Grant Writing Resources

Getting Started

Grants are available for study, research, and creative endeavors.  Here are some basic tips to keep in mind as you apply for grants:
  • Start early!
  • Pay attention to deadlines.
  • Search for grants based on:
    • What you are studying
    • Your religion, gender, ethnic background, place of birth or residence, etc.
    • The place of where you will be researching, such as a specific location (example: the National Archives in London)
  • Determine if the amount awarded is worth the time you will have to invest applying for it.
  • If possible, don’t apply for grants that have to be repaid!
