Faculty Services: Graduate and Doctoral Materials

Course Material and Copyright Assistance for Faculty

Information Regarding Graduate Students

Although master's and graduate certificate students are generally responsible for acquiring their own course materials, APUS strives to minimize such costs.

A master's-level book grant is available to active-duty servicemembers, their spouse/dependents, Guard members, and Reservists, providing no-cost textbooks and ebooks for master’s-level courses.  Information regarding course materials is posted monthly here, and please click here for more information.

Doctoral students are also covered by a book grant. Information on the required resources can be found here.

Student inquiries can be sent to ECM@apus.edu.

All reading and resource lists must be sent to the Course Materials team, to ensure compliance and consistency.  If you're a new staff or faculty member and unsure of your program's/course's requirements, please visit this link for information or email Booklist@apus.edu for assistance.

Graduate Materials

Need to find resources for your course?  If you need assistance or will be changing up the resources in your classroom, please email Booklist@apus.edu to get the conversation started!

  • Open Educational Resources (OER) can be found on the Open Access Guide.
  • All of our journal subscriptions in the library have institutional licenses. We can usually add more licenses of existing library ebooks or acquire new ones if the cost is not too high.

Institutional Licenses

The ebook/video/reference collections  listed below are licensed at the institutional level and can be used in graduate courses at no additional cost and can also be found in the A-Z list in the library.

Please Note:

When an ebook is  found outside of these collections, we may not be able to either  a)purchase extra licenses at all or b) it would be subject  to special approval for  purchase.  If you see an ebook noted with 'your institution has unlimited access', they are part of a subscription and can be pulled from our collection without notice. If you wish to use these ebooks in your course, please email Booklist@apus.edu with any questions regarding these types of resources.

Resource Selections: Policies & Procedures

New Form!! Please submit your resource lists using the Resource/Book List Submission Form at least 45-90 days prior to the course start date of the implementation session.  Any requests submitted closer to the start date will require leadership approval. Be sure to include the title, author (when available), and URL/citation information in a Word doc and upload the listing.  If URLs are not provided, the document will be returned.

  • After the resources are reviewed for copyright and 508 compliance, an eReserve is created for approved links. The resources are broken out by week and the unique link to that eReserve can be added to your D2L/Brightspace course.

  •  Items that are not Open Educational Resources (OER) and/or located in the Trefry Library need special consideration and will need to be approved by the School Dean and Provost.

  • This timeframe can be reduced if a required resource disappears off the Web or from our Library holdings without notice. Please email ECM@apus.edu if you encounter any broken links or missing resources.  Broken links can also be reported here.
